Hi, I'm jealous, what's your name?   Looking good there bud.  Wish I had 6 Gb RAM!  Sh@t man, you should have no probs running anything.  Nice Video card too.

Looks good, Skinhit. You might want to invest in discrete sound card (SB X-Fi?). Also, you should try to verify that your existing s/w will work with the 64-bit Vista - I had a few issues with that on my upgrade (my ZoneAlarm ISS won't work with it and my Roxio Creator version is too old, although most of my other software scares turned out to be non-issues). Microsoft's site says a lot more software is incompatible than actually is, it would seem.

I would say so. That's a top-of-the-line ATI card (do you know if it shares system memory?), so it should work brilliantly for graphics processing and games, and if I'm not mistaken, that's one of the newest generations of Intel processors. Vista's an adjustment to be sure, but now that I've cranked the UAC down to a less paranoid level, it's been a pleasant adjustment.

Whats is s/w? Thanks for all your input

Just curious. My GeForce 9800GT shares up to 2GB of system memory in addition to the onboard 512Mb, which is really nice.

You'll find out soon enough. <evil laugh>

Seriously, it's an acronym for User Access Control. Basically, Vista will pop up a box and request permission (or, if you're not logged in as an administrator, refuse flat out) any time you ask to do something that could possibly be malicious, ranging from running a program file to installing a new program. If you have ODNT, you can use TweakVista to change the default setting to make it less aggravating or you can just go into the Windows security settings and disable it altogether (opinions on whether that's actually a wise idea tend to vary).

Great specs! And 6 gb's memory? awesome. What monitor are you planning on using for this setup?
